The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed charges against Ruben Medrano Jr. (Age 48 of Needles) for resisting an officer in Needles.
CASE SYNOPSIS
On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 1100 block of W. Broadway Street in Needles regarding a suspicious person. During the investigation, Ruben Medrano Jr. was arrested.
After reviewing this case, our office has filed charges against Mr. Medrano for violating the following sections of the California Penal Code:
Penal Code Section 240 – Assault (Misdemeanor)
An assault is an unlawful attempt, coupled with a present ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another.
Penal Code Section 148(a)(1) – Resist, Obstruct, Delay Of Peace Officer Or EMT (Misdemeanor)
Every person who willfully resists, delays, or obstructs any public officer, peace officer, or an emergency medical technician, as defined in Division 2.5 (commencing with Section 1797) of the Health and Safety Code, in the discharge or attempt to discharge any duty of his or her office or employment, when no other punishment is prescribed, shall be punished by a fine not exceeding one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed one year, or by both that fine and imprisonment.
