The San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has charged Bryan Armstrong Cota (Age 29 of Chino Hills) with using a chemical weapon.
CASE SYNOPSIS
On Friday, August 21, 2020, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department went to the 14800 block of Pipeline Avenue in Chino Hills, regarding an assault investigation. An investigation was initiated, and on Sunday, August 23, 2020, Bryan Armstrong Cota was arrested.
After reviewing this case, our office has charged Mr. Cota with violating the following section of the California Penal Code:
Penal Code Section 22810(g)(1) – Use of Tear Gas (Felony)
Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who uses tear gas or any tear gas weapon except in self-defense is guilty of a public offense and is punishable by imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 for 16 months, or two or three years or in a county jail not to exceed one year or by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment.
