SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. – On Monday October 27, 2025, Defendant Angelo Jose Saldivar (47) of San Bernardino, was involved in an alleged domestic violence incident involving his ex-spouse and several witnesses in Rancho Cucamonga.  San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputy Andrew Nunez responded to the call and was shot and killed after arriving first on scene. A high-speed motorcycle pursuit followed, which endangered the lives of motorists until Defendant Saldivar was stopped by a legal intervention.

District Attorney Jason Anderson’s Officer-Involved Shooting team will be conducting a parallel investigation alongside San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department into the Lethal Force Encounter by the off-duty deputy which put an end to the pursuit and aided in the apprehension of Defendant Saldivar.

On November 3, 2025, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office has filed the following charges against Defendant Saldivar.

PC245(b) – Assault with a Semiautomatic Firearm

PC245(b) – Assault with a Semiautomatic Firearm

PC246.3(a)  – Discharge of a Firearm

VC 2800.2(a) – Evading an Officer

PC236 – False Imprisonment by Violence

PC243(e)(1) – Battery on a Spouse

Prosecutors have also alleged special allegations for use of a firearm in commission of the assaults. Special allegations of murder to avoid arrest, murder of a police officer, and personal and intentional discharge of a firearm have been filed with the murder charge of Deputy Andrew Nunez. If found guilty, and special allegations found true, Defendant Saldivar will be eligible to be sentenced to Life Without Possibility of Parole and Death.

The investigation remains ongoing and additional charges may be added. Defendant Saldivar is booked into custody and will appear for arraignment once medically cleared for transport.
