San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson announced today that Loma Linda University Medical Center,  Loma Linda University Health Care, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Loma Linda University Medical Center – Murrieta, Loma Linda University Shared Services,  Loma Linda University Health,  Loma Linda University, Loma Linda University Behavioral Medicine Center, Inc.,  Faculty Physicians and Surgeons of LLUSM “Loma Linda”  have agreed to resolve allegations that the healthcare provider unlawfully disposed of hazardous waste, medical waste and protected health information at Loma Linda facilities in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office together with the District Attorney of Riverside County reached an $7.5 million settlement with Loma Linda, after it was discovered through a District Attorney investigation that the healthcare provider unlawfully disposed of hazardous waste, medical waste, and protected health information at Loma Linda health facilities in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. As part of the settlement Loma Linda has agreed to take significant steps to prevent future unlawful disposals.

“Protecting the health and safety of our community is one of our highest priorities,” said District Attorney Jason Anderson. “The unlawful disposal of hazardous waste, medical waste, and confidential patient information poses real risks to residents, and our office is committed to holding organizations accountable when these violations occur.”
